CADDO COUNTY, Okla. – The Caddo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to KFOR.com that George Cole Jr. is brain dead and is expected to pass away soon after attempting suicide while in jail.

CADDO COUNTY, Okla. — The Caddo County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that George Franklin Cole Jr., the stepfather of a missing 12-year-old child, has been declared brain dead and is not expected to survive following an attempted suicide while in custody at the county jail.
According to officials, Cole was being held on 14 felony charges, including multiple counts related to child abuse, child sexual abuse, and child neglect, when the incident occurred. Authorities have not released additional details surrounding the attempt, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Cole was arrested Wednesday night as part of a widening criminal case involving the disappearance of the child. His mugshot was released by the Caddo County Sheriff’s Office following his arrest.
Meanwhile, Kimberly Cole, the child’s mother and Cole’s wife, remains in custody at the Caddo County Sheriff’s Office. She is facing multiple felony charges similar to those filed against Cole, according to law enforcement officials.
